Hi! We are Brian and Karen. We started out with a Facebook page to share our adventures with friends and family who were asking us to post about our RV life after we purchased our first RV in January 2018. Now here we are! Neither of us knew how to expand to a website exactly but we’re fans of YouTube, Instagram, Twitter, and Facebook so here we are stumbling through this new adventure in social media called blogging.
We are two people who swore we would never own an RV; both for different reasons. Karen grew up RVing with her family from time to time so her perspective was from memories of having to set up and break down. Setting up took so much time because it was all manual process). It seemed like they were all money pits and something was always needing to be fixed.
As for Brian, his experience RVing was zero. His parents RVed for years and still do but they didn’t start until later in life. He didn’t understand how someone would want to be stuck having to use an RV and having to justify the cost of owning one since they are a terrible investment financially.
So what changed?? We were empty nesters and our usual social outlets (kids sporting events and such) were drying up and we needed a hobby of sorts. We had gone tent camping with the kids when they were little but when they became interested in competitive sports we no longer had time to camp. Our lives were consumed in volunteering as little league coach and board members, coaching soccer and basketball, volleyball and dance parents and anything else they wanted to do. Our lives were consumed by our kids activities and we thrived as a family. All of our vacations were planned around those events even taking us to a baseball tournament in Italy
Fast forward to 2018 when we found ourselves needing a tax write off. I’m still not 100% sure how the conversation got started but I think we can blame Karen’s aunt and uncle for planting the seed and somehow we decided to look into RVs. The one thing we both said we’d never do! We decided to go look at a couple RV’s and Brian (being the researcher he is) discovered many of his favorite RV Youtubers and became hooked without even owning one. Boy was that a shocker! We decided we had to spend 30 nights a year in it to justify owning one. So the question became how do we do that when we both still work full time? Where do we find the time? We are still trying to figure this out.
Once we agreed on the RV, we took a leap of faith and here we are! We fell in love with RVing and our first year spent 70 nights RV’ing. We went to spring training in Phoenix, went to Oregon for an RV Rally and to several National Parks including Canyonlands, the Arches, Great Basin and the Grand Canyon with Karen’s aunt and uncle who are really to blame for our addiction to ‘xploringlife’ in our RV!
